Dr. Laura M. Salerno completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers College and received her Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice in 2014. She is currently employed as a Research Scientist within the Research and Evaluation Unit of the New Jersey Department of Corrections. Previously, she worked as a researcher for the Violence Institute of New Jersey at Rutgers University (formerly a part of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey). Salerno's research has appeared in journals including Criminal Justice and Behavior, Criminology and Public Policy, and theJournal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, among others. As a part time lecturer, she aims to prepare students for a career in the criminal justice field by teaching the fundamentals of theory, research, and evaluation while also injecting first-hand experience into her lectures. Salerno has taught a variety of courses including Criminology; Data Analysis; Gender, Crime and Justice; and Introduction to Criminal Justice.
